SmartConnect’s software and services integrate digital video surveillance with Point-Of-Sale or point-of-use terminal data in order to provide a proactive Video-Centric Business Intelligence System.

Our applications are in use in restaurants, casinos (in both their food and beverage and games operations), quick serve restaurants, convenience stores, commercial banks and elsewhere.

  SmartConnect provides software that heightens the level of video surveillance to a true loss prevention tool that gives clients the ability, using their POS or other data collection systems, to pre-select potentially problematic situations and record them.

This, in turn, makes surveillance useful and less labor intensive while allowing management to monitor employee performance and actively deter theft. SmartConnect customers have reported revenue increases in excess of 10% following installation of the SmartConnect solution
Our Food and Beverage applications work through a location's digital surveillance system to permit owners to set pre-determined triggers of potential loss events such as manager comps, manager voids, tender of large bills, and the cash drawer remaining open for too long.

The system archives multiple video feeds and the POS receipt for each event.

 

  Both the Point-of-Sale and the Digital Surveillance Center (DSC) software were developed internally by SmartConnect using open web-based standards. The system permits clients to review recorded video of predetermined events through a regular web browser from any Internet connection.

An example of a SmartConnect customer installation is HMS Host, one of the largest food service providers in the world. Like most businesses today, HMS Host doesn’t have the available resources to continually monitor live video surveillance at their restaurants. Therefore, HMS requires integration of their Point-of-Sale system with their video surveillance system to allow the SmartConnect system to generate exception reports based on their business logic. For example, if the POS cash drawer is open longer than two minutes, the system will create an exception report with the time, date, employee, cash register, and revenue center along with the video of the event.

HMS utilizes several other “queries and triggers” to create reports that the managers review on a daily basis. The system is showing dramatic bottom line results from SmartConnect's DSC system, and HMS has plans to install the system at several additional client airports in 2004.
