Video tape has been used as the primary storage medium for video surveillance for decades. Video tapes are cumbersome, low resolution, and are prone to interference and breakage. Additionally, video tapes generally record for about eight hours. Therefore, to record a 24 hour period, a worker has to change the tape three times a day adding significant labor costs.

As you can see from the graph below, the rapid decrease of digital storage has caused a revolution in video surveillance. The cost of digital storage is now less expensive than analog storage. Therefore, companies will begin to replace their analog surveillance systems with digital equivalents. Not only will the digital systems be less expensive, they will have much more value to the user.

SmartConnect’s Digital Vision is founded on "Standards-Based" systems using motion JPEG images that seamlessly connect with POS, Access Control, Slots Systems, Player Tracking Systems, and Inventory Control Systems.

 Benefits of Digital Video Surveillance:

  • Better picture quality
